Julie Buckner Armstrong is an internationally known expert in civil rights literature. Her most recent books include the Cambridge Companion to American Civil Rights Literature and Mary Turner and the Memory of Lynching. Dr. Armstrong is Professor of English in the Department of Verbal and Visual Arts at the University of South Florida in St. Petersburg, where she teaches American, African American, and Feminist literatures.
